Book Off-Season
Prices for hotel rooms start dropping a few weeks after Labor Day. Most beach communities stay warm well into the fall months and most seasonal business will continue to operate all the way through December. Also, since summer is the peak season, beaches are less crowded during the off-season, giving you more room to relax.

Change the View
Save up to $50 a night or more just by choosing an ocean-view or ocean-side room.  And if the view is not important to you at all, you can save even more by booking a second or third row hotel room and walk to the beach and using the public beach accesses.

Book Midweek not Weekends
Book your stay from Sunday-Thursday and hotels usually charge less for the same room on those days than on the weekends since that is prime time for vacationers. Just by cutting one day off of your trip can save you a lot of money.

Call Before You Book
Want to negotiate a better price?  Call before you book. Tourism is a competitive business and if they can get your business by giving you a discount, they probably will. All you have to do is ask. Let’s face it – you have a 50/50 chance the answer is yes!

Do some research online to see what free events and activities are planned at the time of your stay. Most activities take place between May through August, but if you are visiting in the off-season, you can still find fun events happening in the local area. Local tourist magazines and websites are reliable sources of information as well as the local chamber of commerce.

Hotel Recommendations and Discounts
Most hotels and Inns work with local businesses and have an area in the lobby where you can pick up some brochures and information on places to visit while on vacation. When you find something that interests you, ask the hotel concierge or front desk if they offer any discounts for their guests – a lot of them do so it pays to ask.

Ask the Locals
Check online for local chat or forum groups in the area you are planning to visit. You can ask for a recommendation of places to eat and visit while in town that will fit your budget. Who better to ask than those who work in play there every day and are not looking to take your money but to give you honest advice.
